It was a beautiful day to do a maternity shoot with Rainbow, a beautiful mom-to-be. We spent a lot of time thinking about the outfit, props & location, making this perfect.
Note*** Having high heels on a maternity shoot increases risk.
6 Tips for choosing a hotel room for an intimate shoot (useful for brides too for getting ready):
1. Pick a room with full length window
Lights coming from large windows flatter skin and make beautiful photographs. There are a lot of ways we can utilize the window light, so we love it!
2. Space. Space. Space.
Pick somewhere spacious. Photographers need space for shooting and get angles. Small spaces with clutter are really hard to work with. This one we picked in Gold Coast Hotel was perfect.
3. A mirror in the room (not bathroom)
Things get hot and sassy with a mirror
4. A balcony with nature as view
I love balcony shots! However it has to face either greens or ocean. Otherwise we can’t escape from the stressful buildings in Hong Kong
5. A hotel with cool props
Themed hotels such as a traditional Paris hotels/apartments with French style decoration can add a lot of mood to the shoot. Often we need a comfortable environment and atmosphere to help us get into the shooting mood.
6. Take into the account of the location around the hotel
If there are nice places around the hotel, it’s very nice to shoot around it as well without carrying lots of belongings. Also a great thing to enjoy a nice dinner after the shoot with your make up done already for the photoshoot.
Hope you found the tips useful. Next blog entry I will share with you tips on how to prepare for a photoshoot.
